Babies and snow

Ewok is doing great, she’s almost ready to spend the nights in the barn with her siblings. Gluttony and Sloth are living up to their names surprisingly well. Scotch’s kids were named Cider (the boy) and Vodka (the girl) they are all growing rapidly! Tequila finally had her kids about a week ago and she turned out to be a wonderful mother, she had a larger buckling- Wrath, and a small doe with a single silver stripe on her back- HG Mercury. Wrath looks like a snowball.
Suede had her kids Saturday night, go figure had to kid on one of the coldest nights in a spell. She had triplets, two doelings and a buckling. Sadly the buckling was dead when we found them, probably froze to death is our best guess. The doelings are doing great now though, a little red and white one- Scarlet Sunrise and a buckskin- Piper’s Paradise.
Friday night and Saturday we got sleet and snow so not much else has been happening. The last nativity we were scheduled for was canceled due to ice but the Night in Bethlehem in Augusta went wonderfully.

Babies!

This has been a long week.  I’m sorry if anyone was curious what all was going on with the babies… Mocha had her kids last Saturday night, Caribou and Mousse whom I posted pictures of already.  Monday afternoon Kalypso and Scotch also had their kids.  Kalypso had a single doeling (Madeira), but Scotch took Madeira as hers, leaving Kalypso terribly upset and now being milked. Scotch had a buckling (Port) and a doeling (Rum).  Tuesday afternoon about 3, Amber had her kids, she had triplets: a buckling (Hephalump), a doeling (Jamila), and another doeling (Tarragon).  Jamila was so weak when she was born she couldn’t even rock herself up off her side and it was really cold out so we brought her in to keep her alive, hoping Amber would take her back the next day.  Amber didn’t so Jamila is now a bottle baby staying in the house with us and following out for chores.  Finally Tiger had her kids Wednesday night about 8. She had two beautiful red boer/kiko bucklings, the oldest and darkest named Loki and the younger and lighter one Thor.

Weights:

Mousse (1-13): 7.8 lbs (1 day)

Caribou (1-13): 7 lbs (1 day)

Madeira (1-16): 8 lbs (2 days)

Rum (1-16): 7 lbs (2 days)

Port (1-16): 7.8 lbs (2 days)

Hephalump (1-16): 6.8 lbs (1 day)

Jamila (1-16): 5 lbs (1 day)

Tarragon (1-16): 5.8 lbs (1 day)

Loki (1-18): 7.8 lbs (2 days)

Thor (1-18): 7.6 lbs (2 days)

I marked how old they had been when they were weighed so you could see the difference 1 day makes and the difference between twins and triplets (Amber’s kids).  You can also see Madeira being the heaviest 2 day old, she was a single and also very stout.

They are all doing beautifully now.  Kalypso’s milk is going to Jamila which really makes me think about everything happening for a reason.  All in God’s plan.  ?  We are finished with kidding until March! Maybe I can get some more sleep? Probably not, oh well.

Well, I only have one more picture to share just because it is really cute.

Just trying it on for size. I small dog blanket fits Caribou perfectly, at 1 day old.

Ninja Bunny

Guess what, I finally got a chance to try and scan my Ninja Bunny comic.  (Actually just took a picture of it.)

Just for those curious, Bunny is the goat’s name.

I also got time to do another caricature of Puma.  He was the focus of the Gangsta Goat drawing earlier this year.  This is what he is actually like:

For how tough and handsome  Puma may look, like a gangster, he is essentially just a cuddly teddy bear.

Interest & Stress

Well, I mentioned earlier that my grandmother was in the hospital for a heart attack, she got out early this week or last I can’t really remember anymore. She was doing fine until yesterday.  She got taken into the hospital with a stroke, we’re told she’s doing fine, but if you could please keep her in your prayers.

Yesterday was extra stressful, as we were at a dairy goat show in Coffeyville.   I didn’t do super hot but it was a learning experience.  Yesterday Cord also had her babies.  Twins, a boy (Rothgar) and a girl (Edelweiss).  They happen to be Kiko-Nigerian crosses.  Kapitan jumped the fence the day Cord went into heat.  They both seem to be doing fine, though they look funny proportionally.  Rothgar is a blue-gray color like most of Kapitan’s kids, with a white spot on his side shaped just like Cord’s white spot (which you can seldom see).  Edelweiss is almost pure white, can’t really tell yet.  We’ll have to see if any spots show as she gets bigger.  They both have wattles, little growths of skin on their necks that Kapitan is prone to giving to his offspring, thus we’re sure they are Kapitan’s.

I believe that that is about it.  All the others are doing great and I’ll get pictures up as soon as possible.  If you are curious about our herd just go to bbgoats.com Have a good day.

New kid & Video

Well, I’m slow to get around to this, sorry, I’ve been really busy.
My sister’s kiko- Amber- finally had her kids. A buckling and a doeling. Sadly the buckling died shortly after birth. The doeling is called Atlatl, an atlatl is a spear-like weapon from what I can gather that people would throw. It seems slightly more accurate since they use a release of sorts to hold it. If you’re confused now, trust me, you’re not alone, I don’t get it either. Oh well. She is half-sister to Blu and Pi and her color is right between. She has a blue line on her back, a roan-y red on her sides and a white face. She was born on the twelfth.

Now the video. Sadly this video was taken the day before my grandma was taken to the hospital with a heart attack. That is part of the reason I haven’t posted much recently; our lives are kind of in chaos. This is the first video of Puma with everyone else. The Nigerians are getting really hyper and the kikos are managing their long legs a lot better now. 🙂

More Kids

Well I had to stop and see what all I had posted about before typing this up. Tells you how busy I’ve been. 🙂 Mocha’s kids: Blu Moon and American Pi are doing great they are both a little over 13 pounds now, at a few days over three weeks old I believe. Magpie and Kitty are doing fine also, they are both about 10 pounds or so if I remember right. Pharaoh just passed the 4 pound mark this week and Diago is 5 pounds something. I’m to lazy right now to both checking. I’ve had a long day :/ Tiger had her kids today while I was at a band competition. She had two bucklings, boys, the first is Puma, he’s about the same color as a mountain lion- his namesake- and weighs 8 pounds 3 oz. His younger brother is Jaguar, he’s about the same color as his mother, black with tan/cream striping around his face, tail, and ears, and the same color from his knees down. While Puma seems to be a chunk of muscle, Jaguar seems to be lacking muscling on his hips and nothing super impressive as far as muscles anywhere else. They both have really thick hair. My main concern right now is for Jaguar as he seems really weak. Hopefully he’ll pick up quickly.
Just an interesting tidbit thanks to someone in Sri Lanka for viewing. The tracker for views on wordpress registered 2 views by someone out of Sri Lanka. I just thought that was neat. XD
I mentioned a band competition earlier and thought I’d elaborate. I play trombone in high school for those that didn’t know. Today was our Regional solo/small ensemble competition. I got a 1 out of 5 ranking, 1 being excellent, or 70 out of 80 (80 being the best you can get at 1+), whichever scoring makes more sense. So I will be going to State competition as a sophomore with my solo Andante et Allegro by Ropartz. I’m the only instrumentalist from my school going, Shocking really. I don’t know if there are any vocalist going, they hadn’t performed before I left the competition.
I hope you all had a good day and God Bless. 🙂
