Babies!

This has been a long week.  I’m sorry if anyone was curious what all was going on with the babies… Mocha had her kids last Saturday night, Caribou and Mousse whom I posted pictures of already.  Monday afternoon Kalypso and Scotch also had their kids.  Kalypso had a single doeling (Madeira), but Scotch took Madeira as hers, leaving Kalypso terribly upset and now being milked. Scotch had a buckling (Port) and a doeling (Rum).  Tuesday afternoon about 3, Amber had her kids, she had triplets: a buckling (Hephalump), a doeling (Jamila), and another doeling (Tarragon).  Jamila was so weak when she was born she couldn’t even rock herself up off her side and it was really cold out so we brought her in to keep her alive, hoping Amber would take her back the next day.  Amber didn’t so Jamila is now a bottle baby staying in the house with us and following out for chores.  Finally Tiger had her kids Wednesday night about 8. She had two beautiful red boer/kiko bucklings, the oldest and darkest named Loki and the younger and lighter one Thor.

Weights:

Mousse (1-13): 7.8 lbs (1 day)

Caribou (1-13): 7 lbs (1 day)

Madeira (1-16): 8 lbs (2 days)

Rum (1-16): 7 lbs (2 days)

Port (1-16): 7.8 lbs (2 days)

Hephalump (1-16): 6.8 lbs (1 day)

Jamila (1-16): 5 lbs (1 day)

Tarragon (1-16): 5.8 lbs (1 day)

Loki (1-18): 7.8 lbs (2 days)

Thor (1-18): 7.6 lbs (2 days)

I marked how old they had been when they were weighed so you could see the difference 1 day makes and the difference between twins and triplets (Amber’s kids).  You can also see Madeira being the heaviest 2 day old, she was a single and also very stout.

They are all doing beautifully now.  Kalypso’s milk is going to Jamila which really makes me think about everything happening for a reason.  All in God’s plan.  ?  We are finished with kidding until March! Maybe I can get some more sleep? Probably not, oh well.

Well, I only have one more picture to share just because it is really cute.

Just trying it on for size. I small dog blanket fits Caribou perfectly, at 1 day old.

Delayed

Long time no see.  Hmm, a lot has happened. We’ve had four more kids born since Atl was born.  One of my Nigerian Dwarfs got bred by the Kiko buck.  Luckily her and her kids were and are healthy and happy.  She had a buckling- Rothgar- and a doeling- Edelweiss.  Rothgar is a very intense blue color with a white spot on his side. His sister Edelweiss is white with rose dusting.  They’re a month old or so now…

I had two others born also, just two weeks ago now, from the little calico- Kenzie- the last Nigerian who was bred.  She had a buckling- Joker- and  a doeling- Gypsum.  Joker is tri-colored and Gypsum is black and white basically.  She is graying over most of her body, with a white star on her forehead a white spot on her side, and what my mom calls “spats” on her feet.  They both have blue eyes too!

My grandma is out of the hospital now and doing great.  After a heart attack then a stroke, she finally got out of rehab just this week. 🙂

First Nigerian kids are here!

We had a beautiful day yesterday. One of the days that you leave the windows open just because it’s gorgeous. I was setting the table for dinner and heard one of the goats crying in the barn. I went out to check on it, hearing screaming is normal right now since we’re weaning Rye, but it wasn’t his voice. When I went out I found Bunny (Astartie) kidding. She had twin doelings at about 5:30 pm yesterday. Magpie is the older of the two, she weighed about 3lbs 10oz and is black with white frosted ears, a star spot on her forehead, a small white spot on her left girth, and a white bracelet just under her back left hock. She’s really loud! Miss Kitty is the younger, she weighed 3lbs 5oz and she is also black and white, but she more resembles Ace. If you look at her from the from you can’t see her eyes. She has black boots on all four legs, she’s already fluffier than Magpie, part of the reason for her name. Not to mention while Magpie was(is) screaming, Kitty just makes a subtle mewing sound. 🙂 I’ve had a wonderful couple of days, good weather and healthy kids, Praise God!
Rye and Whiskey are now a little over 3 months old. Rye was weaned about a week ago, weighing 47lbs. Whiskey is getting to stay with Scotch for another month, and when we weighed her she was 32lbs.
The play “The Groom Said ‘No!'” finished with a bang, a true comedy where it seemed everything that could go wrong in the house that everything occurred in went wrong. That means my life has infinitely cleared up and just in time too for the kids. We’re watching Barbie, Mocha, and Amber get ready to kid also.

Cute!

Ha!  I was able to get a picture (without rigging it) of Sabre with the kid(s).   I just went out to check on them and Sabre decided the Rye wanted/needed his attention and Scotch was busy with Whiskey, so everyone’s happy! 🙂

Babies are Here!

One, I’m thoroughly ticked at my sister, the camera was one black and white mode so I have no pictures of the kids in color.  But what I’m really posting about is Scotch, the pregnant does we have been watching had her kids today.  We just back from Leon and found them shivering and stumbling around the stall.  She had a doe and a buckling, boer crosses by the looks of them.
